Tryouts for the 1996 PDP, 1995 and 1994 ODP birth years begin next
weekend in Versailles, KY. Please see the information below regarding
times and location.
We want the very best players in the state of Kentucky to participate in
our elite level programs, ODP and PDP. If you know of players that should
be trying out for ODP and PDP, please pass this info along to them.
Dear Soccer Player,
Kentucky Youth Soccer is excited and pleased to inform you that 2007-2008 Olympic Development Program (ODP) and Player Development Program (PDP) online tryout registration is now OPEN. Both programs have taken huge steps over the last two years and the process is only continuing to improve.
The goal of ODP is to identify and develop youth players their state, region, and national programs. PDP is a state run program used is to identify and advance the most passionate youth players in the state exclusively for players born in 1996 birth year only, while giving them the experience to what will be required of them when they are old enough to be part of the Olympic Development Program.
It is the purpose of Kentucky Youth Soccer, in conjunction with US Soccer and US Youth Soccer, to run the Olympic Development Program for the reasons below:
1) To identify a pool of players in each age group from which a National Team will be selected for international competition.
2) To provide high-level training to benefit and enhance the development of players at all levels.
3) Through the use of carefully selected and licensed coaches, to develop a mechanism for the exchange of ideas and curriculum to improve all levels of coaching.
Below is the detailed tryout information:
Cost $60 per player if registered online $80 per player for on-site registration The one-time tryout fee entitles each player entry to each tryout session. **Players must attend at least one of the two scheduled open tryouts to be eligible for selection to a State ODP Pool.Kentucky Youth Soccer works in partnership with your soccer clubs and associations in the next step as your development of the player. Last year, we had over 700 players participate in the ODP & PDP process; if Kentucky Youth Soccer Association is to grow we need to put more players through this professional process in helping develop future players for the US National teams.
After the state coaching staff identifies the players through the try-out system, the players will be selected for the State ODP Pool. A total of 7 pool sessions will take place this over the course of the year which will allow our coaches more time to develop and offer each player a better experience.
